The Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) holiday for residential property purchases is due to end on 31 March 2021. We recommend to all clients purchasing residential property in England and Wales to budget for paying SDLT at the standard rates, in the event that a purchase does not complete on or before 31 March 2021. Although we will of course do our best and liaise with others involved in the process to mitigate any hurdles, the speed of the transaction is outside our control and we cannot guarantee that transactions will complete before 31 March 2021.
